OCCUPY - The Band

(DEN/USA/HOL/HUN)
Genre: improvised music / improvizatív zene

The Occupy movement is an international protest movement against perceived social and economic inequality, its primary goal being to make the economic and political relations in all societies less vertically hierarchical and more flatly distributed...
But what does music have to do with it?
Improvised music and it´s exploding energies will become the best demonstration tools. The project will work as a symbolic occupation of the sound waves and the acoustic spaces of the festival by the power of free-flowing music. OCCUPY MEDIAWAVE´14 aims to be a symbolic action/demonstration in the spirit of the occupy movement, where the participating musicians turn to be activists in different, freely set up formations (ad-hoc bands) and will play very short, action-/performance-like free music at different locations at the festival area.

John Dikeman – saxophone
