"Rough around the faces" is a documentary which draws the portrait of a sculptor through the "eyes" of one of his works. Along a beach with a prehistoric atmosphere, between pebbles and seaweeds, appears a small bronze statue. It seems it could have been there forever, as if whashed ashore from a land far away. With it, we go meets its maker : sculptor Jean-Ves Gosti. Between Paris and Bordeaux, Britanny and his workshop in Pantin, we travel with him as he picks his stones from the dephts of a quarry and his metal from an industrial dump. As it unfolds, the film focuses on that matter, where rough characters of fascinating beauty emerge from the depths of time.
